Launch Seminar Krakow

Launch Seminar Krakow. 19-20 June 2019

BESTROM Consortium held its Launch Seminar at the Institute of Musicology of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow on June 19th and 20th 2019. The main objective of this first seminar was to share an overview on the first steps to be taken in the following months. To this purpose, we were briefed about the last updates of our four areas of research (Citizenship, Music, Fairs and Circus) by a member of the team in charge and we discussed a common ground for the inquiry lines.

The collective deliverables BESTROM will produce for 2021 –which include a website, a special issue, a book, an online exhibition and research based performances– were also considered in order to work on a common schedule. Since our HERA project will last for two years and we have ahead a very demanding research agenda, it is imperative for the teams to work as coordinated as possible. Our associated partners, who also participated in this launch seminar, will play an important role in accomplishing this challenge. For this Krakow meeting, Eva Schöck-Quinteros (Bremer Shakespeare Company), Thomas Acton (RomArchive) and Sandra Heredia (FAKALI-Federation of Romani Women) joined us to share their points of view and experiences.

After two days of productive meetings, we conclude the workshop visiting the old building of the Institute of Musicology of the Jagiellonian University, thanks to our host, Anna G. Piotrowska. BESTROM next seminar is to be hold in Helsinki on December 2019. But, before that, some members of our project will take part in ‘HERA JRP Uses of the Past & Public Spaces Conference’ in Gdansk 11th and 12th September.
